This research theme developed further with a British Council funded trip to Jamaica in December 2006, to research and develop new work to mark the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery. The work was also exhibited at an invited solo exhibition at Tart Contemporary, San Francisco, USA, February 16th –March 16th 2006. Invited commission by Tramway, Glasgow, funded and supported by Glasgow City Council, the Scottish Arts Council and the British Council. An audio CD, 'The Slaves Lament' was also produced. The bringing together of these two songs alludes to historical and cultural events between Scotland and the West Indies including slavery, Empire and trade, and the cause and effect consequences on contemporary cultural expressions.
